Rumination, Contemplation: Successfully Creating Your Crystal Meth Addiction Recovery

Contemplating one's thoughts and actions was once a sought after skill taught by great sophists such as Socrates, Aristotle, and Plato.

In present day society, the art of contemplation tends to be a discipline reserved for the most highly educated and more often than not, most elite members of our communities.  It was one of these highly educated souls who exposed me to the unlimited power I possessed within myself, if only I would learn to discipline my thoughts.

Ruminating on morals, values, and wisdom played a key role in my recovery from crystal meth addiction and my resulting psychosis. The wisdom I've gained upholds my choice to abstain from abusing drugs in any form.

My memoir tells the story of my trial and error journey to beat my addiction and overcome the psychosis I suffered.

Today, I am healthy, productive, and best of all, happy.

Five practices healed my mind, body, and spirit to make up an all-inclusive addiction defense system for my sustained recovery:

  1. Spirituality
  2. Fellowship
  3. Behavior Therapy
  4. Dual Diagnosis
  5. Psychopharmacology

UCLA's Brain Institute, Matrix Drug Treatment Center, and the National Institute on Drug Abuse  have research to support what I discovered through chance.

An all-inclusive treatment approach to drug addiction is far more successful than any one approach alone; especially when it comes to crystal meth addiction.
